Ganesh Raj, owner-operator of The Tasting Shed, is a multi award-winning chef for The Tasting Shed food and business, and he has also twice won the Metro Restaurant personality of the Year (2012 and 2013). He was unable to attend the Taste of Auckland event but left us all in the very capable hands of Head Chef Richard and Restaurant Manager Elliot. I loved their dish of pan-fried market fish presented with a smear of romesco sauce on the base and a gorgeously fresh salad of shaved fennel, crab and chilli, with a courgette cream, finished off with a sprinkle of puffed quinoa.

What to serve with this fresh and crunchy salad? I’d go for fish, steamed, barbecued, fried, baked, any which way you like.
Mint and cumin, ginger, cinnamon and chilli, and almonds, prunes and figs, and, oh, chicken. This is spectacular!
