Yes Yes new season garlic is here. Thanks California for helping us out over winter, but we’re over you now as our love affair with local garlic begins. Oh, it’s such a thing of beauty. Peeling back soft translucent tissue-y layers to reveal the pearly white cloves of goodness within. It makes my heart sing! And makes my heart strong. And yours, too, if you eat it.

It assists in lowering cholesterol and blood pressure. And on spooky nights it helps keep the vampires away (well, perhaps this last one is unproven!).
Don’t tell me you don’t like it. I’ll put my hands over my ears and go LA-LA-LA-LA again and again until you change your tune. Seriously. What! You take food supplements? Come on, get real, eat real food, not stuff stuck in a pill that BIG companies are making BIG money from by telling us that stuff in the pill is the same as eating the real thing. It’s not. If you’ll pardon my language, you probably excrete the goodness straight out. Worse, you might retain the bad bits, or the bits that didn’t react so well with your particular gut chemistry.
