Festival Italiano comes to town
Festival Italiano, the annual street party celebrating everything Italian, held in Newmarket, Auckland, is on again this Sunday. Expect all the fun of an Italian festa – music, dancing, laughter, oodles of food and plenty of ‘Ciao Bella’s and treble cheek-kissing as Italians congregate around the inner streets of Newmarket to show off their exemplary wares. You can join in workshops, sate your tastebuds with free tastings, watch a 40g wheel of Parmigiano Reggiano being split open, grab a slab of authentic pizza to eat while walking around, or perch at the bar with a chilled Peroni and simply let all the madness spin around you. There’ll be plenty of head-turning style in fashion, cars and scooters as Made in Italy comes to life. If you feel like showing off your Armani, Versace or Ferragamo, or parading your Prada, Pucci or Gucci, or just practicing a few words of Italian, Sunday’s the day.
