Are you plagued by a return of the ‘OMG’s (yes, the dreaded OhMyGods), as in, what to cook for Christmas Day and for family and friends coming to stay or dine at your place over summer?

Was this the year you were going to get yourself to a cooking class or two to rejuvenate your recipe repertoire and to fire you up to start cooking again?

Have you got a new kitchen and wish you had a new set of inspiring recipes to show it off?

If any of these thoughts are running around your head you may like to join us for our Christmas and Summer Special cooking classes, running Saturday 25th November, and repeated Sunday 26th.

The usual Shared Kitchen rules apply: small, intimate groups in my cute Waiheke home in Rocky Bay, plenty of interesting treats and Waiheke specialties to try, a great set of recipes (about 8 dishes, but plenty more ideas) of which you will try everything and enjoy with wine, and we’ll cover heaps of tips and techniques. We’ll have fun, too, as it is very relaxed with gorgeous sea and bush views to enjoy.

* Note that the Saturday class will start as usual at 1.00pm, but the Sunday class will start later, at 3.00pm. Both classes will run for approximately 3½ hours.

* The emphasis will be on finding solutions for Christmas, summer and entertaining. The classes will feature some meat and fish, but as usual, there will be an emphasis on fresh seasonal produce. If you are vegetarian and wish to attend, we will find some lovely alternatives for you.

General notes

The theme for all classes is SEASONAL, EASY, DELICIOUS food that you will want to cook again and again. I don’t waste time with aspirational dishes that you might make ‘one day’, but concentrate, instead, on dishes that you will want to cook immediately. PRACTICAL, USEFUL, HEALTHY food, with some treats thrown in. There’ll be plenty of things to taste including Waiheke specialties and other bits of gorgeousness that come our way.

As on all classes, you will get a full taste of all the dishes, be served some fabulous wines, and come away with a great set of recipes having picked up numerous tips and techniques.

Waiheke is such a magical place to visit (it’s a pretty amazing place to live, too). If you live in Auckland, or further afield, why not make a day of it on Waiheke and come over for a cooking class, olive oil or wine tasting, and finish with sunset drinks at one of the remarkable wineries on the island. It’ll be a day to remember, and you’ll not want to leave! We can give you all the details.

Cooking Class Fees

These are the last classes I will be running at $125.00 per person. In 2018 classes will rise to $150.00. Don’t be shocked: I have held the price since 2011! As you know, the cost of food has gone way north since then and a price adjustment is necessary in order to continue offering classes.

Cooking Class Vouchers

If you wish to buy a cooking class gift voucher for a 2018 class, if you purchase it before December 25th you will get it at the 2017 price.

If you have unused cooking class vouchers, please get in touch as soon as you can if you want to attend one of these classes.

Private classes

I am also able to offer private cooking classes for small groups. Please email me at [email protected] for further information. Classes can run on any day of the week, at a time to suit and can be themed and include full tastings of Waiheke award-winning olive oils and products. Cooking classes can also be held at your home or holiday home on Waiheke or Auckland.

Foodie Days

Foodie days for small groups of up to 4 can include a private cooking class at your venue or my home on Waiheke, coupled with a foraging experience, olive oil tasting and wine tasting. These can run on any day of the week, at a time to suit, and are a wonderful way to experience Waiheke. These days are suitable for end-of-year celebrations, a way of saying a special thank you to friends, and are suitable as an engagement or wedding gift voucher for a small group.
