Stay home (and eat chocolate)
Well, you can only do what the government advises … and add your own twist to alleviate boredom. |
Tough times This weekend will be tough for families who usually get together over Easter. In truth, it’ll be hard for all families, and probably tougher still for singles. I’m not one who usually endorses comfort eating (except for potatoes!) but a wee chocolate binge could be a bright spot sometime over the next 4 days. I’m the first to admit that I will miss hot cross buns; I love them, and with the award-winning Clareville Bakery just down the road, driving past to the supermarket yesterday I felt a pang in my heart seeing it all shuttered up. Fluffy spicy buns, crusty sugared doughnuts filled with chocolate cream, chocolate this and chocolate that … Damn. I would have queued for some of that. Instead, I queued to enter the supermarket, dressed like a burglar, got sprayed, was ordered to stay behind red lines on the floor, and once in, spent way too long fussing over a well picked over range of chocolate treats, that we’ll hunker down and scoff no doubt. Did I put chocolate biscuits in my trolley as well? Mmm. I did. I have reminded myself this morning that homemade chocolate biscuits are always going to be better than shop-bought ones, especially when made with fresh butter and good chocolate. Here are a couple of recipes that you might like to rattle up. Kids love rolling mixture into balls so if you have little ones you could make it a family project.
