National Poetry Day – Phantom Billstickers!!!
Well blow me down! I just came third in the Phantom Billstickers National Poetry Day Waiheke’s Song and Poetry competition (HaHa! Try and make a haiku of that!). Read My Poem Here
The ‘Song and Poetry Thing’ takes place the last Thursday of every month, and tonight was a culmination of a year’s work from founders Sue Flitchett and Katy Soljak. Guitars were strummed, words were hummed, and poets took to the floor. This event, like several others around the country, is a lead-in to National Poetry Day Friday 26th August. Perhaps we should all mellow out with a poem tomorrow. Either drift off somewhere and write your own, or reread a favourite childhood verse. It doesn’t matter how you find or appreciate poetry. What matters is, the words, and what they mean to you.
