Waiheke happenings this week
It’s nearly Christmas.
And it’s nearly time to get the reindeers out. I mean my Trade Aid reindeers that are stashed away most of the year and trotted out for a brief showing each December. And my soft felt Iranian reindeers (didn’t know they had reindeers there, but never mind) are also desperate to get out of their storage bag.
Yep, I’ll be tinsel-ising the room and surrounds next week to milk every ounce of fun out of the festive season. Either that or retreat to a cave for the next month.
Meanwhile, if you are over on Waiheke this weekend, there is a fund-raiser Christmas Market at Waiheke High School from 6.00-9.00pm this Friday. And Saturday’s Ostend market is bound to be a biggie as festive buying gets underway.
I’ll be at both markets, and with Christmas goodies in tow … my hard-to-resist Chocolate & Walnut Truffles, and Zimsterne (almond star biscuits), along with my usual Shared Kitchen products.
And tomorrow night is our final Song & Poetry Thing for the year. Held at the very stylish Aperitivo Wine Bar, a destination bar for beaut wines, tasty tucker and great music. Pop in. Everyone’s welcome. If you’ve got an original tune, play it, or an original poem, read it. Or just enjoy the performances over a glass of wine.
