World Chocolate Day
It may or may not be World Chocolate Day on July 7th. It’s definitely not International Chocolate Day because that is celebrated on September 13th. In Latvia World Chocolate Day is celebrated on July 11th. America has at least four days celebrating all things chocolate and celebrates World Chocolate Day, International Chocolate Day, National Milk Chocolate Day, National White Chocolate Day and other variations on a chocolatey theme throughout the year. Call that greedy, but Americans can’t compete with the amount of chocolate eaten per capita in Switzerland. The Swiss each chomp through 19.4 pounds of chocolate every year (thank you Google).
Well, what does all that mean for us? Should we opt for World Chocolate Day as it is just around the corner? Yep, I think so, but how to indulge? Pick up your morning hot drink but make it a hot chocolate instead of a flat white? Have a sneaky wee nibble of a chocolate bar at the office desk? Throw caution to the wind and order crêpe oozing Nutella from your local crêperie for lunch? Dunk double-coated TimTams into a hot cuppa mid-afternoon? Secretly scoff a Snickers bar in the car while driving home from work? Or cuddle up on the couch after dinner and slowly (but steadily) work your way through a big block of nut-filled chocolate? Choices, choices, choices … Of course, I have no intimate knowledge of any of these indulgences.
